Ten years ago, the Netherlands had almost 20,000 suspects of Moroccan origin, in 2014 this figure had dropped to 16,000. These people are mainly accused of 'lighter' offenses such as healing and theft.

In the Netherlands, nearly 52 percent of the suspects native. Of the remaining 48 percent have a western background 17.8 and 30.3 a so-called non-Western. In that case, they are often people with Moroccan, Turkish, Surinamese or Antillean background. Romanians, Bulgarians and Poles are currently the highest in the list.

factors

The figures show that immigrants still have a relatively large share in the crime. The Scientific Research and Documentary Centre (WODC) did a few years ago research into how this was possible, and came to the tentative conclusion that origin is not the cause, but it has to do with other factors. Education, income and the home of a suspected role play.
