Flevoland is a leader when it comes to households who live in terraced houses six in ten. The percentage of households living in an intermediate or corner, as hovering just above 40 percent for years.

Baby boomers
This may change according to CBS chief demographer Jan Latten. In the 70 and 80 single-family homes were popular among the young families of thirties and forties, the baby boomers. They searched houses outside the old city, affordable, child-friendly and with a garden. They are often found in satellite cities such as Almere and Lelystad. Now the number of families no longer increases are mostly single elderly contributing now to the growing number of households. "That may have consequences for the housing needs," said Slats.

Tenants usually live less than people with home ownership. In the four major cities renting eenhuishouden average the least square footage in Amsterdam to use surface: 67. Den Haag live these households an average of 10 square meters and larger in Rotterdam and Utrecht municipality renting households an average of 80 m2. Towns such as Almere, Maastricht and Eindhoven are well above respectively 89, 92 and 99 square meters.

As regards the Hague apartments households live the largest with 117 m2, followed by Utrecht (111 m2), Rotterdam (109 m2). The capital closes the row of 92 m2.
