The reception of asylum seekers in the Netherlands has taken in the past year 800 million euros, 300 million more than in 2014. The increase keeps pace with the increase in the number of asylum seekers.

This is evident from the annual report of the COA, the Central Agency for the Reception of Asylum Seekers. The flow of refugees reached a new high in October. Only in that month signed up 9783 people. In total last year was about 59,000 refugees. Most are from Syria.

More COA employees
Last year, 48 reception centers opened or reopened. The COA has many more people need to lead the growth in the right direction. It now involves 3,834 full-time jobs. A year earlier there were still 2,030. Especially temporary workers and remote employees previously engaged, but the COA now has more employees with a permanent or temporary basis.

In addition to the 800 million euros for the reception, the public cost hundreds of millions of refugees. It will then include the cost of the Immigration and Naturalization Service (in 2014 nearly 200 million) and the Repatriation and Departure Service, but also to the cost of education to asylum seekers and health care.
