The baton is a lot of agents in the way. Due to an error in the new police uniform cops stumble over their own bat. A police officer was injured and has dragged the police top court.
All 33,000 officers on the street wearing a short baton. This enables them to defend themselves against aggressive troublemakers. In the pants of the new police uniform - introduced in 2014 - is a bag for the club. That bag is not properly stitched, giving the baton drops too low and stings the knee.
That leads to problems: runners fall down, including when climbing stairs and getting in and out of a car. For example, a 31-year-old chief officer in The Hague broke her thumb after she fell down the stairs into the police station. The woman could not work on the streets for some time and had to do office work. Also, they can not months, to participate in shooting tests.

Because the police leadership did not want to dismiss it as an accident at her fall, she went to court. "This is a question of principle," says lawyer Paul Boezeman, who represents the wounded officer on behalf of police union ACP.
According Boezeman there are many more agents that suffer from the bat. "Agents are required to wear their batons. Then it is also the responsibility of the corps management to provide secure uniform. It should not be that policemen in an accident themselves should foot the bill."
Last month, the court officer vindicated. That means that the police top should reimburse her medical expenses. The verdict declares the right of "unsound and thereby risk putting uniform. The corps leadership of the National Police recognizes that delivers the baton problems. "At present we are aware of two official complaints," said a spokesman. "A committee is investigating whether it should be modified uniform."
