The FIOD Thursday morning arrested two suspects in an investigation into the (partly) black payroll of players of a football club in the league in a town north of Amsterdam.

The arrested suspects are a member of the football club and the chairman of the foundation, which for the football do the payments of the players. The pair was taken into custody. They are suspected of (involvement in) tax.

The club was promoted in a relatively short time to the big league. Some players will receive (reduced) salary from the club, which the club also pays payroll taxes. It is thought that a number of players in the years 2011 to date also (part of) their salary was paid black.

During the search of the cafeteria FIOD taking records and computers confiscated. In searches of the homes, the FIOD administration, expensive watches and presumably found narcotics.

Unfair game

Black paying players is serious because if not only tax evasion, but also because these flows are then hidden and no possibility to check the flows of money have a legal origin or legal destination.

Also caused by the black player payroll of unfair play. All clubs must pay income tax on the salary and other fees they pay to their players. There is competition when a club does not do so, because the club has less cost than other clubs who pay nicely. That is not in the interest of a fair competition.
