Cabinet wants to investigate 70 years of violence in youth

There will be an investigation into violence against home from children placed in care from 1945 to the present. In addition, we set up a hotline for victims.

Winter wants to find out whether the current assistance to victims is adequate, and if not what needs to change. The investigation should also minors in the youth mental health care, Deaf and blind institutes and youth on the BES islands (Bonaire, St. Eustatius and Saba) will be involved. The study is estimated to take two years.

The government makes it clear for the summer how the investigation will proceed.

The committee Youth Violence is the third committee that denounces abuses in care.

Commission Deetman:

The committee Deetman conducted research into child abuse within the Roman Catholic Church. Catholic institutions between 1945 and 1981 an estimated 10,000 to 20,000 children fell victim. Commission Samson:

The commission Samson did research on sexual abuse in the youth and the disabled.The result was, inter alia, that there should be a single independent hotline in the Netherlands for all forms of abuse.
