Seven million extra for education in crisis region

The Cabinet makes an additional EUR 7 million for education in crisis areas. It comes to children who live in war zones or affected by natural disasters.

That made mini Lilianne Ploumen (development cooperation) on Monday on the World Humanitarian Summit in Istanbul. This United Nations Summit is aimed at emergency aid. Prime Minister Mark Rutte is present.

The additional contribution goes to a fund that in five years time for 34 million children in crisis areas or emergency education wants. If children are not in school reduces the risk of radicalisation, exploitation, child marriage or child labour is greater, thus Ploumen.

Less than 2 percent of the budget for international emergency aid for education in crisis areas.
