The two suspects are from the former Yugoslavia. They would have made themselves guilty of human trafficking and participation in a criminal organization. They are probably part of a larger network.

The research team has four networks sight which in the Netherlands are active and certainly hold and manage twenty children. According to the Dutch police, some children would have only eight years, reports NRC Next. Children between 8 and 16 years were in countries such as Bosnia and Croatia are recruited. The Dutch research team is working closely with include Spain, Austria, Bosnia and Croatia.

Pickpocketing
By now it is clear that at least 300 children by these traffickers are forced to steal. The networks put the kids in shoplifting and pickpocketing. It is further alleged that girls are abused and found that many of them at a young age become pregnant.

The two suspects were caught in Barcelona. They will soon be transferred to the Netherlands. During their detention in the Spanish coastal town struck the police six children, including a baby, under "appalling conditions". "It was just a piece of junk," says research leader of the police, Arthur de Rijk. They are two boys and four girls aged up to fifteen years. According to the police, they are victims of trafficking.

Four of the children and baby are taken by the Salvation Army and youth protection institution Foundation Nidos to the Netherlands. They were brought to safety, police said.

Tip of the iceberg
"I feel that this is the tip of the iceberg, that there are more children in the Netherlands victim," said prosecutor Warner ten Kate.

Main purpose of the operation is to free all the children involved. "Of course we also want to bring down the networks responsible."
