The verdict of the Suriname court martial to proceed with criminal proceedings led to the December murders to a constitutional crisis in Suriname. That President Desi Bouterse said Tuesday at a meeting of the Suriname parliament.

According Bouterse is now a "disturbance" in the relationship between the judiciary, the legislature and the executive. Bouterse, President of Suriname now, is also the prime suspect in the December murder process.

On June 9, the court-martial decided to resume the trial after a suspension of four years again. To make this possible, the court declared the controversial Amnesty Law ineffective in this process. This law ensured that the suspects in the December murders to go unpunished.

Disturbance
The fact that the judge has put a law approved by parliament "aside" would be the cause of the disruption of the relationship between the three powers. The leaders of the three opposition parties have said during the meeting that there is no According to them of a constitutional crisis.

Several jurists and lawyers, including the Suriname Bar Association, have argued in recent days that there is no crisis.

Bouterse said he wants to solve the problem which has arisen within "law and order". "If we do not, creates legal uncertainty which may create difficulties for national security. We will therefore make every effort not to create chaos," said the President who noted that there are other forces who control chaos.

Inform
How he did not specify Bouterse will tackle the problem could yet because he has been in the "offending" verdict until Monday paper. However, he has in recent days, all relevant civil society, including the army and police, informed of the alleged "serious" situation.

This informing of the armed forces has led to many speculations and references to the eighties when Bouterse was the leader of a military regime and violence not afraid.
