' Quarter nursing homes suffer loss '

The HAGUE-a quarter of the Dutch nursing homes closed last year with loss. A year earlier, this was about one-fifth of healthcare institutions.

This is clear from an analysis of purchase Association Intra sale and accounting firm Verstegen.

The results are mainly under pressure by a fall in the rates and the number of clients. Operating profit in the sector halved last year, of 242 million euros in 2014, to 122 million.

The researchers note that care institutions save on (fixed) staff and less and less investment in buildings and facilities. However, the nursing homes are not sufficient to cover the costs. The care and treatment costs per patient are even slightly increased last year.

Especially the larger healthcare organizations and institutions that have a relatively large amount of home care supply the heavy.
