Justice examines use toxic substance at Dupont

The public prosecutor examines the use of the hazardous substances C8 at chemical company Dupont in Dordrecht.

Justice Dupont it suspects that the company has committed criminal acts.

Employees of Dupont may become sick because they have worked for years with the toxic C8. They may have an increased concentration of the toxic substance in their bodies.

C8, perfluoroctaanzuur in full, is a substance which is used in the manufacture of nonstick layers. The substance is not degradable in the environment and accumulates in the human body. This has consequences for reproduction and is possibly carcinogenic, according to the RIVM.
