Saturday night there was suddenly a strange man at the door of the elderly woman. That was pretty scared, because the man just kept ringing.

She locked herself in the bathroom and immediately called 112. To her surprise, she was turned away, Mrs. had to call the 0900 number that is especially for cases that do not rush.

When the terrified woman, however, did so, she once again received a negative response. There would be no police, Ms.'d better try to calm, was the advice.

NOT TAKEN SERIOUSLY

Ultimately, the strange man went away, but the daughter of Mrs. Sweijen is furious about the incident. "In recent years there have been a number of intrusion attempts made on her," writes Anne-Mieke Timmer-Sweijen on Facebook. "Door forced with crowbar, window smashed, etcetera." She can not therefore believe that the police call from her mother seriously, even after they themselves called to the office.

"Today I called the police and advising to leave my mother no longer live independently because pressure for carers will be too high," Timmer-Sweijen continues, which is appalled by the reaction of the agents. "My mother does not need any care at all if its not criminals ever bother!"

EYE OUT

Meanwhile, the message of Timmer-Sweijen already read a lot and shared. Many people in the neighborhood have offered to keep an eye on things and to intervene if the 82-year-old Ms. Sweijen again receives a visit from a burglar. "I have a whole bunch of numbers I can call, so I do not have to worry," said a relieved Mrs Sweijen to Heart of the Netherlands. Police are investigating the incident. "
