Compensation for next-of-kin MH17

The victims of the disaster are this afternoon with flight MH17 remembered by survivors. All 298 names of the victims were read to the caller. Around 15.20 hours, the time when the contact was lost with the plane, a minute's silence was held. Not long after it was announced that there is an agreement on compensation for the victims ' families. This reports RTL news.

Most survivors has now agreed on the outlines of the compensation. The details are still being worked out, says lawyer Evert Wytema opposite RTL Nieuws. Also made a deal with relatives of victims in Australia for example. In total, have been made with about two-thirds of the families agreements. The other group is still talking.

Commemoration
In commemorating this afternoon there was singing, dancing and survivors made speeches. Nienke Tol dedicated a poem titled My sister, on dealing with the loss. Reed Martens wore a poem about life as a survivor of the disaster, entitled "The shine is off.

Evert van Zijtveld Foundation Vliegramp MH17 said at the beginning of the commemoration that the meeting gives a feeling of togetherness. He also said that two victims have not been found and that it is hard for the family.

While reading out the names of the victims came survivors emotions. That also happened to show off pictures of the passengers of the Boeing 777 of Malaysia Airlines which was shot down over eastern Ukraine on July 17, 2014.

Prime Minister Mark Rutte was also at the commemoration ceremony at the invitation of the relatives. Rutte came to support the bereaved. He did not give a speech.

Uncertainty
Last year the commemoration in Nieuwegein. This time the meeting in Expo Haarlemmermeer in Vijfhuizen, near the spot where the survivors in 2017 will unveil the memorial in memory of the victims.

This involves a large wall of six meters high and 25 meters long. The wall symbolizes the gravity of the loss. In the middle is an 'eye', a hole where sunlight comes through. That symbolizes hope.

The victims' names are engraved on the wall.
Exactly two years after the disaster, there is still uncertainty for the families. The Dutch Safety Board concluded last year that the drone was shot down by a Buk missile. But the criminal investigation into who is responsible, is still ongoing.

First results will be presented after the summer. The road to a trial of those responsible is still long.
