According to toxicologists the chemical threatens the health of workers and nearby residents.

This writes the Volkskrant Wednesday based on results of laboratory tests. The substance, GenX, caused in the tests include cancer, kidney disease, liver injury and fertility problems in rats and mice.

Toxicologists call Chem Ours to immediately stop GenX. The chemical would descend through the factory chimneys in residential areas of Sliedrecht and Dordrecht. "You can not just spreading this kind of poison on residential areas," says Professor of Toxicology Jacob de Boer of the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.

The American Chemical Ours denies GenX is carcinogenic and states that the results of the laboratory tests say nothing about the health risks for humans.
