The cable car stopped yesterday afternoon between two peaks because the cables through the wind became entangled.

Four helicopters made 65 people were rescued before night came. Tonight another 12 people were rescued, but the last 33 passengers had to wait until this morning before they could be rescued from their plight. They were using helicopters equipped with blankets and food.

It is a ride of five kilometers between the Aiguille du Midi and Helbronner. The trip between the Alpine giants at the French-Italian border normally takes 35 minutes and is at an altitude of over 3000 meters.
