Also shut down nuclear reactor Tihange 2

The Belgian reactor Tihange 2 this morning shut down after a malfunction, reports Engie operator Electrabel. Tihange 1 was already shut down Wednesday after it was damaged part of the building during construction.

There is a fault in the steam generator in Tihange 2. The generator is located, it is not known how long the repair will take in ,, the non-nuclear part "of the plant..

Tihange 2, also known as the 'cracking reactor', this year has already been shut down several times. Tihange 1 is likely to be next Sunday restarted.

Both stations near the Walloon town Huy are due to regular failures under fire in the neighboring countries the Netherlands, Germany and Luxembourg.
