SAINT-GILLES / BRUSSELS - Three students and a cleaning lady of the municipal primary school Peter Pan were burned yesterday by a chemical.
In one of the classrooms of the primary school Peter Pan at the Oratory School broke yesterday about 14:20 pm panic when some of the children began to scream in pain. Reason was a leaking chemical that trickled down from the ceiling. The sanitary pipes from the toilets upstairs classroom were hidden for some time and yesterday were underway. "It was a product through the pipes gegotenin hoping to solve that problem," said Marie Verbeke of the police zone Brussels South (Anderlecht / Sint-Gillis / Frost).
"But that particular product came in contact with another product. As a result, there arose a chemical reaction. The stuff did absolutely melt the lead. That happened just above that particular class so that the product was leaking down. "
The result: three children were burned a cleaning lady from the school. The stuff had fallen on the arms of the students. They were all four taken to hospital for treatment. The emergency services arrived en masse on site and finally decided to evacuate the whole school. The nearly 500 students were taken care off. Eventually, the lessons for the rest of the afternoon were suspended. That did not reveal any problems with it since the lessons anyway would only have lasted an hour. The four injured were last night still left the hospital. This morning all the students back to school.
