Nearly half of child abusers avoids jail

Of the adults who have abused a child sexually, gets nearly half (43 percent) no jail time. Only one in five offenders receive a custodial sentence of more than a year, while the law, maximum penalties for states of six to sixteen.

That says Corinne Dettmeijer, the National Rapporteur on Trafficking and Sexual Violence against Children. The report Fornication to justice II analyzed the rapporteur 182 child abuse convictions in 2012 and 2013.

Appeal Ban

The survey also shows that few child abusers are those of the judge imposes a disqualification. That while ten percent of children being abused by a perpetrator who worked with children as a teacher, sports coach, childminder or nanny.

Often the court no disqualification because the offender to "recognize his reprehensible behavior" has already found another job, or has no pedo sexual feelings. But that says nothing about Dettmeijer according to the risk of recurrence.
