According to the banks looted 148,000 euros from accounts in the first half of this year. That was four years ago, 24.7 million.
People are much more alert and see through faster misleading messages from criminals to deposit money or give sensitive information. That's according to the Dutch Association of Banks and Payments Association Netherlands largely due to all campaigns.
Moreover, banks are to detect much more capable phishing. Therefore, the perpetrators can no longer take their chances.
Because cybercriminals hardly plunder bank accounts, they shift their work to dating sites .They set up fake profiles and have so stolen in the first six months 1.6 million. Throughout 2015 was about EUR 2.7 million, which was a record.
It is feared that this record will be broken this year.
Stolen less fit
The two associations also report that fewer debit cards are lost or stolen in the first six months of this year. It is a decrease of 37 percent compared to the previous six months.Nevertheless a substantial loss, they add to it.
