In pictures: King will parade from 350-year-old Marine Corps

On the Coolsingel in Rotterdam, King Willem-Alexander declined the parade on the occasion of the 350th anniversary of the Marine Corps. That took about two thousand Marines and veterans participated.

Among other Defence Minister Hennis made ​​a speech: "They are often the first to enter the arena to provide a crisis head", said the minister. "In many places they have made ​​a significant contribution to the restoration of order and stability. And in the future will often be called upon our Marines."

To conclude the ceremony, six navy helicopters flew over the city.

The Marine Corps is the oldest military part of the Netherlands. The Marines are trained for special operations. They have participated in numerous missions to conflict areas. At this time, Marines train the Peshmerga into Iraq to fight IS.
