Jansen had special relationship with Cruyff: "So will remember John '

Wim Jansen could read both on and off the field and writing with Johan Cruyff, who died Thursday at the age of 68. The legendary number fourteen took the primal Feyenoorder not for nothing to the United States.

Jansen Had Wednesday with Rinus Israel still Cruyff, unaware of what would occur a day later. "We were talking about the leader Johan was always inside and outside the field. "John stood up for other players, whether it was for premiums or other matters. He made sure everyone got what he deserved. There was an enormous respect for him, everybody accepted him as the leader of the team" said former midfielder. "John is the man of been the total football. He determined the attacking style of the Netherlands, he was the absolute leader in the squad of '74. The team that was around him fit completely to him," Smith explains. He went in the wake of Cruyff to the United States and later they played together at Ajax. The friendship was continued thereafter in years.

"As I have seen him, so I'll keep reminding Johan" says Jansen. "He is the greatest footballer that I've ever played together. It's that simple. And as good as he was as a player, so good he was as a person. Really great ..."
