The Lower House will receive Tuesday a petition asking for a Dutch "no" to the ingredient glyphosate is in herbicides.

Naamloos-471.pngThe petition According to Greenpeace (one of the organizers) signed by over 161,000 people from the Netherlands and other European countries.

Glyphosate is including in the herbicide Roundup of US manufacturer Monsanto. According to the World Health Organization is probably carcinogenic.

Some garden centers in the Netherlands have stopped selling. The Lower House, which earlier this year Secretary Martijn van Dam (Agriculture) not called to consent to allowing longer use, bends again Tuesday on the issue.

Greenpeace says that a Dutch rejection also can determine the policy in the rest of the European Union. The EU suggested an earlier decision. More environmental and consumer organizations are against the agent. For example, an e-mail campaign of foodwatch delivered nearly 135,000 responses.
