Students in Amsterdam are the most expensive out. They pay monthly whopping € 138.12 too much rent. After Amsterdam comes Utrecht. Here, students pay an average of € 102.15 per month more than allowed. The slum landlords is not limited to the cities with the largest emergency room. In all university towns, except Enschede and Wageningen, the rent should be on average higher than those based on the points system. Wirken: "Legal security of tenure for students is only a paper reality in practice, almost every student pays too much.."
Checkjekamer
The LSVb calls to check on students whether they pay high rent on Checkjekamer.nl. ,, It is important to take action if you are paying too much rent. It can save a lot of money and this helps the fight against slum landlords, "said Wirken.
The research of the LSVb is based on data from the website Checkjekamer.nl. On this site, checking students or their rent is within the legal limits. In 2015 2679 students completed a rent check for their room. These students live all over the big and smaller student cities in the Netherlands.
