Opposition: 150 million more for security

THE HAGUE - Opposition parties require 150 to 200 million euros extra for the Ministry of Security and Justice. The money must still recover this year. Six parties which have agreed Tuesday.

Naamloos1-13.pngGroup Chairman Gert-Jan Segers of the Christian Union said there are still holes in the budget to be filled. CDA, D66, Christian Union, SP, GroenLinks and SGP pull together on Wednesday in a debate about additional money for the department of Minister Ard van der Steur.

,, It is our serious. It is a very serious request, '' says Segers. The parties fear he says that staff should leave the police and the Public Prosecution if the money does not come. The 49 million euros already allocated in the Spring of Security and Justice, is not enough, says Segers.

SP leader Emile Roemer fears that expertise will disappear, for example police and the Dutch Forensic Institute. He points out that in previous cuts showed the AIVD intelligence that such expertise not just come back in, after good people have left the organization. ,, We're going to play it high, '' said Roemer on the debate Wednesday.

Minister Van der Steur, which is about police and justice, says that as far as he has enough money for this year. He hopes that additional steps can be put to an investment for next year. On Monday it was announced that wakes for police and justice 300 million in 2017.
