Concern was expressed about the hard sound within the EU action by the Turkish authorities after the failed coup. According to the EU Commissioner, it seems currently out that president Recep Tayyip Erdogan intends the concerns about the functioning of the Turkish rule of law.

The EU earlier called on to ' a quick return to the constitutional order in Turkey ' after the failed coup. The EU also warned the country about the maintenance of the rule of law. Reintroduction of the death penalty, something the Turkish people according to Prime Minister Erdogan wants to, according to Brussels means the end of negotiations on Turkish membership of the EU.
