Putin dismisses chief of staff and right-Ivanov

Russian President Putin has sacked his chief of staff Sergei Ivanov and right. Putin said Ivanov wanted to leave himself.

Ivanov is known as the main confidant of the president. Business newspaper RBK recently described him as the most influential person in Russia after Putin.

The place Ivanov is taken over by Anton Vaino, a former diplomat and since 2012 deputy Ivanov. His task will be to draw up legislative proposals for the President, overseeing its implementation and analyze the domestic and foreign policy of Putin. The head of the presidential administration is one of the most powerful positions of Russia.

The resignation of Sergei Ivanov comes a month before the elections. Despite an economic recession is heading Putin's United Russia party a big victory off.

The decades-long relationship between Ivanov and Putin dates back to their time in the KGB, the secret service of the Soviet Union.
