Gardener makes playground for handicapped boy

Most playgrounds are not accessible to children with disabilities. The 19-year-old Dextor Heerhugowaard can not just go to the playground in his hometown. Gardener Gerco Dorrestijn so I decided to do something about it.

Dexter has autism and multiple learning disabilities. Because he could not find in the standard care anymore, his parents stopped full-time work to care for their son. They focused on Dexter's needs and also wanted to add a garden to experience it all over the house. But for this special playground was no budget.

Perception Garden

In the television program Heart of the Netherlands some time ago was paid to the situation of Dexter. Gardener Gerco Dorrestijn was so touched by the story that he decided to help them. The 21-year-old Dorrestijn himself has a daughter with Down syndrome. Together with the family he planted a garden, fully equipped to meet the needs of Dexter.

It took several months, but the special garden for Dexter is now. The garden has a swing, trampoline and lounge.
But a seven meter long Kapschuur is that Dexter even go out in bad weather.
